THE ROLE
As a Health & Safety, Security and Risk Manager, you will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of Legends Global Iberia occupational Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and procedures, at the same time you will serve as the professional leader for security, emergency management, and customer safety.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all relevant Spanish and Portuguese regulations and standards, creating a safe working environment for our employees, reducing health and safety risks across the organization and ensuring the implementation of effective security measures, collaborating with law enforcement for comprehensive event and day to day operations security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Health & Safety Compliance:
> Build the company's own risk prevention service from scratch.
> Ensure the organization complies with all national and local Health and Safety legislations in Spain, including Royal Decree 39/1997 (Regulations on the Prevention of Occupational Risks) and other relevant regulations.
- Security Leadership:
> Provide professional leadership for security, emergency management, and customer safety across the Iberian business.
- Policy Development:
> Responsible to develop, review, and update the company’s Health and Safety, Food safety and Security policies, procedures and risk assessments.
- Risk Assessments:
> Identify potential hazards and risks within the workplace and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate them.
> Ensure regular reviews and updates of risk assessments are conducted.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
> Conduct annual and ad-hoc security and emergency management audits, monitor KPIs, to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Crisis Management and New Business Support:
> Develop and implement emergency response plans, effectively respond to incidents, and support new venue mobilization with robust operational security concepts.
- Training & Education:
> Design and implement training programs for employees on Health and Safety best practices, emergency protocols and hazard prevention.
- Accident Investigation:
> Lead investigations into workplace accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Health & Safety Audits:
> Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Emergency Preparedness:
> Ensure that emergency response plans are in place, regularly reviewed, and employees are properly trained for emergency and crisis situations (fire safety, first aid, evacuation procedures, etc.).
- Monitoring & Reporting:
> Maintain health and safety records, including accident logs, incident reports, and training records. Report regularly to management on Health and Safety performance and areas requiring attention.
- Collaboration:
> Work closely with department heads and management to implement health and safety initiatives, foster a safety-conscious culture, and ensure health and safety matters are prioritized.
Support workplaces health and safety committees and managers meetings, including the provision of corporate updates and relevant performance reports
- Legal and Regulatory Updates:
> Stay current with changes to local and national legislation, ensuring that the organization maintains compliance with evolving health and safety and security standards.
- Sustainability and Well-being:
> Contribute to broader well-being initiatives, including ergonomics, mental health awareness, and employee wellness programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor’s degree/MBA in Occupational Health and Safety required, qualification in "Técnico Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Laborales" following Spanish Health and Safety regulations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety management role, preferably within the Retail/F&B industries, and experience in safety/security management within large venues or public event spaces.
- Desirable experience managing licensed private security teams and collaborating with Cuerpo Nacional de Policía or Guardia Civil.
- Experience with loss prevention, anti-theft systems, and revenue protection.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), Royal Decree 393/2007 – Emergency Planning and Royal Decree 2364/1994 – Security Regulation.
- Familiarity with environmental management standards (ISO 14001) is a plus. Certifications in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Spanish labour laws and Health and Safety regulations.
- Experience of health and safety auditing, inspection, monitoring and evaluation.
- Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels to prioritize safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).
- Strong time management and efficient working practices with the ability to work off own initiative with minimal support with the ability to self-motivate.
