About the Role
The Multi-Skilled Engineer Mechanical – Central Hub will take full ownership of their duties, ensuring the highest standards of Reactive, Planned Preventative, and Scheduled Maintenance across venues in the Midlands Hub, including Becketwell Live, Utilita Sheffield, and Sheffield City Hall. They will oversee the operation, maintenance, and servicing of all building services, infrastructure, and equipment, ensuring compliance with statutory standards and SFG Schedules of Maintenance. By proactively planning work to maximize reliability, availability, and environmental conditions, the post holder will maintain optimal service levels and facility performance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver high-quality maintenance services with the Hub Estates Manager and Estates Hub Teams.
- Ensure statutory compliance, functional performance, and customer-focused service.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments, with clients, venue staff, and contractors.
- Lead mechanical engineering maintenance and specialist repairs within the Midlands Hub.
- Manage reactive and planned maintenance, diagnosing faults and ensuring timely, safe repairs.
- Develop and implement PPM schemes for all plant, equipment, and building assets.
- Support the use of a CAFM system to track and coordinate maintenance activities.
- Monitor building services performance, maintain records, and ensure compliance with legal and business requirements.
You will have:
- NVQ Level 3/C&G/ONC in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience in maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Building Maintenance, and Plumbing, with ideally some Electrical and Control Systems experience.
- Familiarity with SFG20 Maintenance Schedules and prior experience in the events industry.
- Expertise in Water Safety (L8), Pressure Systems, HVAC, Gas, Drainage, and Fire Sprinkler Systems.
- Understanding of Safe Isolation procedures and experience using CAFM software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong communication skills suited to the venue and events sector.
- Self-motivated problem-solver capable of working independently.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Central Hub
- Identify defects, propose action plans, and drive continuous improvement in facilities management.
- Supervise and assess external contractor work, ensuring safety and minimal business disruption.
- Maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and promote a positive health & safety culture.
- Assist with project development and capital works, including negotiating quotes and contractor management.
- Oversee stock control, workshop spaces, and security of restricted areas.
- Support sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance.
